ACES proudly hosts Secretary of Education Atif QarniAmelia County Elementary School was proud to host Secretary of Education Atif Qarni on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in honor of National School Breakfast Week and the school's unique breakfast in the classroom program.  ACES Superintendent Dr. Jack McKinley, ACES Principal Dr. Cynthia Reasoner, and ACES Assistant Principal Mrs. Jennifer Ramey accompanied Secretary Qarni during his visit to various classrooms.  Secretary Qarni observed classes eating breakfast in the classroom as well as had the opportunity to observe teachers teaching math and interacting with their students at the start of the school day.  Secretary Qarni, a former math and civics teacher, enjoyed participating in a Title I reading intervention group led by veteran teacher Mrs. Carolyn Lewis.  He also volunteered to teach Mrs. Nicole Poore's fourth grade students a brief mini-lesson on probability and interacted with Mrs. Donna Thomas' fourth grade students through a question and answer session on his current position within our state government.  We thoroughly enjoyed Secretary Qarni's special visit today!
